Quick reference—not clinical direction
This independent educational resource does not replace required training, competency assessment, ongoing supervision, client-specific written procedures, or clinical judgment and direction from the supervising professional. It does not provide individualized treatment recommendations and does not authorize changes to a behavior plan.
RBTHelper is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). RBT® and BACB® are BACB-owned marks.

References & source notes
Card text is a concise paraphrase. BACB sources establish current RBT scope, competencies, and terminology where applicable; supporting professional sources clarify concepts. Card examples are original, brief illustrations—not client procedures.

Review note
The current RBT Test Content Outline is the 3rd edition for examinations beginning in 2026. “Pairing” is common field shorthand; current BACB training materials use the language of building rapport and gaining assent rather than defining one universal pairing protocol.
